Mdm Ang Swee & Mr Toh – Peace of Mind Through Care and Support

Mdm Ang Swee & Mr Toh – Peace of Mind Through Care and Support

At 76 years old, Mdm Ang Swee resides at NTUC Health Nursing Home (Jurong Spring), where she receives the care and support she needs.

Before her health deteriorated in 2019, Mdm Ang worked as a bakery assistant. Her husband, Mr Toh, had also been working as a cleaner before he stopped in 2020 due to his age and to care for her full-time.

For a period of time, Mr Toh was Mdm Ang’s primary caregiver at home. However, as her care needs grew, he found it increasingly difficult to manage the daily support she required. With a heavy heart, he made the decision to admit her to a nursing home. NTUC Health Nursing Home (Jurong Spring) was recommended as it was located near his home, allowing him to visit her regularly.

As the couple relied mainly on their savings and CPF payouts, Mr Toh was often worried about the cost of nursing home care and how it would affect their future finances. With support from NTUC Community Fund, alongside available government schemes, Mdm Ang’s nursing home fees became more manageable. This eased the financial strain on the couple and reduced the need for Mr Toh to draw heavily on their hard-earned savings.

Today, Mr Toh continues to visit Mdm Ang with greater peace of mind, comforted that she is well cared for and reassured that they have enough savings to manage their needs in the years ahead.

Through its support, NTUC Community Fund helps seniors and their families manage the cost of care, so they can age with dignity, comfort, and greater assurance.
